In the lead up to the SES Toronto conference, TopRank’s CEO Lee Odden was interviewed by Canadian blogger and “new media maverick” Rahaf Harfoush on search engine optimization, social media trends and Twitter.
The social media space is becoming quite saturated as companies begin to introduce social networking platforms and corporate blogs. How does the increase of activity in this space affect someone’s online strategy?
“At first glance, the array of options can be very intimidating to a company that wants to get into the social media space as a way to grow brand awareness and revenue.”

That change comes in many forms including search engine algorithms (albeit more gradual than large, singular events) and consumer search behavior, as well as the introduction of evolving search channels such as social search and the semantic Web.”

On May 15th, TopRank’s CEO Lee Odden will present on a PRSA Teleseminar, “Reputation Management in a Google World”.
In many cases, the search engine has taken the place of an organization’s Web site as the doorway to initial interaction with important stakeholders. Compound this with the fact that nine out of ten people report that they don’t look past the first three pages of search results and a full 62 percent don’t go beyond the first page. Savvy public relations professionals are incorporating search engine optimization strategies to ensure that the right people will see their information. By creating an interconnected footprint of relevant content, photos, video and audio, they are actively managing the reputation of the brand, issue or company.

TopRank Online Marketing CEO, Lee Odden, was quoted in PROFIT’s Trends That Mean Business section for his view on Digital Asset Optimization.
Unlike text-focused SEO, DAO is the process of making all of your digital assets, from text and photos to audio and video, more visible to search engines.
“People now expect to see formats like video in search results” says Lee Odden of TopRank. “If you’re not making it easier for search engines to find you, you’ll be at a disadvantage because your competition is going to do it.”
